Can't Put the Pen Down…

The Longer I Live Here (Here being Earth)

The longer I live here
the easier it is to see shades of gray
and the harder it is to see small print on the back of my cereal box.

The longer I live here
the easier it is to give stuff away
and the harder it is is to avoid attracting more stuff.

The longer I live here
the less sense crossword puzzle clues make.

The longer I live here, here being Earth
The more I feel like a visitor waiting to go home.

  1. This is a brilliant poem! Very simple in the wording, but incredibly deep in meaning.

    • I bought a book of crossword puzzles to do on the plane the last time I flew down to Vancouver. Apparently it has the MENSA seal of approval. The contents, unfortunately, seriously lowered any regard I had for MENSA (which really wasn’t much to start with!). It always amazes me where the sparks for poems are found! Thank you for visiting and for your kind words.
