Can't Put the Pen Down…

The Door

Asleep I am aware
Awake I can ignore
And in the drowsy place between
the two there is a door.

I know it leads to answers but
I cannot seem to find
the strength or the ambition
to unlock my mind.

Or maybe I’m afraid
of what’s behind the door.
Asleep I am aware
Awake I can ignore.

Interesting! Many would say ‘Awake I am aware, Asleep I can ignore.’ Or are you being more subtle and saying that the real answers are revealed to us when we’re asleep, but when we’re awake we choose to ignore them? I guess that, as in all good poetry, we’re left to interpret it in our own way. Very thought provoking piece. Like it! 🙂

  2. Hmmm…to walk through the door, or not to walk through the door, that is the question! I have walked through and been shocked and dismayed – and then set free from what was lurking there. I have also ignored the door, and in ignorance, lost peace. Better and more difficult by far to grab that stupid door handle… 🙂
